My name is Marcus McBride and I'm 31 years young. I was born in St Petersburg FL, grew up in Cincinnati OH, and currently live in Phoenix AZ with Tami and our two labrador retrievers.
When I'm not working, I can typically be found somewhere in the vicinity of a bookstore (I'm a bit of a reader), walking my dogs down at the local park, playing guitar, or sound asleep in bed.
Believe it or not, my background is actually in the world of finance, having worked for a number of years as a credit analyst for a major retail chain. I won't say which one however, as there's a pretty good chance I may have turned down your application. And if I did, my apologies to the declinees reading this :)
As a DJ...
I first caught the DJing bug back in the summer of 1987, listening to a radio mixshow while playing video games down in the basement with my stepbrothers one afternoon. I popped in a cassette tape on my little boombox and hit record and spent the next few weeks listening to that tape over and over again, trying to mentally dissect how the DJ was able to seamlessly blend those records together.
That afternoon and that tape lit the fire to DJ and I've been doing it in some capacity ever since, starting off with small club and party gigs during the early 90's in my native Cincinnati, and then eventually working my way into the radio arena after moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1996 (and then moving again to Southern California in 2000).
I've previously worked as an on-air and mixshow DJ for radio stations in Phoenix and Seattle and have done imaging and production work for a number of various stations. I was also a featured mixshow DJ on the (sadly) now-defunct Beat Radio Network, which aired in a number of markets throughout the US.
I currently program and produce two nationally syndicated radio mixshows (Supermixx Mainstream and Supermixx Rock) for Superadio, and have done so since late 1998. I'm also a featured DJ for a mixshow program named "Air 81" which airs Friday nights at 1 AM (Pacific) on BPM, XM Satellite Radio channel 81.
To date, I've programmed and produced somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000 hours of mixshow programming. I spend *alot* of time in front of my turntables eh?
